Catania was founded in 1929 by Michael Leonard Catania. He was the first man to import lettuce into Canada in the wintertime. No one had ever seen greens in the winter season before! The family-run company maintains its small-business charm and integrity, while leading the industry with innovation that helps Catania remain at the top of the field.
Each Catania family leader, from Michael, to Paul, Sr., to Paul, Jr., has pushed the company to new heights, leaving their mark on the company’s place in produce.
Paul Catania grew Catania Worldwide into a substantial, vertically integrated leader in the produce industry. With an emphasis on quality, we make significant investments in our growers and state-of-the-art technology to provide consumers with the highest level of food safety and taste. Paul’s vision came to life when he embarked on an adventure to build a ground to table empire.
He grew up in Toronto, Ontario immersed in the produce industry. He grew up becoming completely captivated with the industry which led him to build one of the most respected quality driven empires in the industry.

Catania Worldwide is now growing, picking, and packing its own fruit from Mexico and California and shipping it within our own company to Toronto and the U.S via our facilities on Catania West in California, Catania South in Texas, and Catania East in New Jersey. Paul believed that our expanded network would allow to have more control over traceability, quality, and freshness.

In addition to being fully equipped for sales and distribution, we have our own devoted growers. This allows us to have control throughout the supply chain and maintain high quality standards for all our items and services. Our unique vertically integrated program gives us complete control, from growing, sales, to distribution, to table.
