Warm up during the holiday season with a cup of chesnut hot chocolate!
• 5 oz Catania chestnuts (about 1/2 cup), peeled and finely chopped
• 12 fl oz whole milk (1 1/2 cups)
• 1 whole vanilla bean, cut and scraped out the pulp
• 1/2 teaspoon fresh orange, zested
• 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
• 2 oz dark chocolate
• 2 teaspoons honey
• 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
1. Add the milk, chestnuts, vanilla pulp, orange zest, and cinnamon in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat; stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
2. Finely chop the chocolate and add it to the saucepan. Stir until it is completely melted. Add the honey after and stir to combine.
3. Blend the mixture using a food processor or blender until completely smooth, and divide between two mugs. You could also use an immersion blender if you want.
4. Serve immediately topped with marshmallows if you like.
